macOS 14 or later Apple Silicon and Intel

Control your Mac with your hand.

AirControl turns the camera already in your Mac into a touchless controller. Point to move the cursor, pinch to click and drag, make a fist to scroll, talk to type.

How it works

Show your hand. That is the setup.

Your camera sees your hand

Apple's Vision framework reads 21 points on your hand about 30 times a second, on the Mac. A small ring follows your fingertip.

Open handmove
Pinchclick, drag
Fistscroll

Make one of six gestures

Each gesture is a clear, held pose, tuned over months of daily use so it fires when you mean it and stays quiet when you do not.

Your Mac responds in 45 to 60 ms

Measured hand-to-cursor on Apple Silicon. Windows move with your pinch, pages scroll with your fist, text appears as you speak.

Features

Everything a controller should do. Nothing it should not.

3 displays, 1 cursor

Works across every display

One cursor, all your screens. It crosses from monitor to monitor in any arrangement, with no dead space between them and no gesture to re-centre.

Reply to Sam: sounds good, see you at

Talk to type

Pinch and hold over any text field, then speak. Transcription runs on your Mac and the words land where the cursor is. Thumbs up presses Enter.

Nothing leaves your Mac

Frames are read and discarded in memory. The app makes one network call to activate your key, then works offline.

Tracking on

Off means off

Switch it off from the menu bar, or hold up two fingers at the camera, and tracking stops on the spot. The menu-bar hand hollows out so you can always tell.

45-60 mshand to cursor, Apple Silicon

Measured, not promised

The status line shows detection rate and inference time live, so the latency claim is read off your own Mac.

ModeLightweight
CameraLower resolution
DetectionReduced load

Lightweight mode for older Macs

On by default on Intel. Lowers the camera and detection load without changing how the gestures feel.

Gestures

Six moves. That is the whole manual.

A closing fist never reads as a pinch. A wave never switches your desktop. Every threshold is adjustable if your hands disagree with the defaults.

Pointopen hand

The ring follows your fingertip. Calibration maps your comfortable range of motion to the whole desktop, so you never stretch.

Click and dragpinch

Pinch to click. Hold the pinch to grab a window and move it. The drag tracks your knuckle, so the window does not lurch when your fingers close.

Scrollfist, then move

Make a fist and move it like you would on a trackpad. A whole-hand gesture, because a two-finger pinch strains after an hour.

Switch desktopfist, thumb sideways

Make a fist facing the screen and stick your thumb out to the side to jump to the next desktop. A held pose, because a swipe is easy to misread.

Dictatepinch and hold on text

Pinch-hold over a text field and talk. Speech is transcribed on your Mac and typed where the cursor is.

Sendthumbs up

Thumbs up presses Enter. Useful at the end of a dictated message.

Good fit

Scrolling and moving windows while you eat at your desk. Driving slides from across the room. Giving your wrists a break from the mouse.

Not a fit

Replacing your mouse for eight hours of pixel-level work. AirControl is built for the everyday jobs, not CAD all day.

How does it work?
An on-device neural network reconstructs your hand as a 21-point skeleton from every camera frame, about 30 times a second. AirControl's gesture engine scores the pose you are holding, gates it through hold-time and motion filters so a half-closed hand never fires a click, and maps your range of motion onto the desktop as native cursor, scroll and keyboard events. Measured hand to cursor: 45 to 60 ms on Apple Silicon, entirely in memory on your Mac.
Why is it not on the App Store?
It cannot be. AirControl moves your cursor and windows through macOS accessibility APIs, which the App Store sandbox forbids. Tools like Rectangle and BetterTouchTool ship outside the store for the same reason.
What does it need?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later and any built-in or external camera. On first run it asks for Camera access (to see your hand) and Accessibility access (to move windows and click). A two-minute tour lets you practice every gesture on safe windows before anything real is touched.
Is it accurate enough to actually use?
That was the whole project. Hold times, motion gates and per-gesture thresholds mean gestures fire when you mean them and not when you do not. Every threshold is adjustable in the tuning panel.
How do I install it?
The easiest way is one line in Terminal: open Spotlight, type Terminal, paste the command from the Pricing section and press Return. It downloads AirControl, checks the file, puts it in Applications and opens it. You can also download the app directly from the same place or from your receipt email; because it is not yet distributed through Apple's notarization service, macOS will show "Apple could not verify" the first time, and you allow it once in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway. Either way, paste the license key from your email once and you are done.
I am on my phone. Can I buy now and install later?
Yes. Checkout works on any device. Your receipt, the download link and your license key arrive by email within seconds. Open that email on your Mac when you are ready.
How many Macs?
One license activates up to 2 Macs you own. Replacing a Mac? Deactivate from the menu bar on the old one (AirControl, then License, then Deactivate) and activate on the new one. If the old Mac is gone, email and the key gets reset.
Is there a trial?
No. You get the full app and 14 days to decide. If it is not for you, reply to your receipt and you get a full refund. Refund policy
Does it drain the battery?
Not much. When no hand is visible for a few minutes it drops into a rest mode and the camera work nearly stops. Show your hand and it wakes instantly, or turn it off from the menu bar when you are done.
